hi guys, i did a mini essay on designing in general. its a pretty interesting gems so far, so i think i will share it with u guys, this is actually a summary of e first class with some personal opinions :
Designers design, they simply don't quit. Designers are also almost like gods, they have absolute control on what they really want, and they create them and draws it out. Implementation is another issue all together.
Who are these designer ? What is it that separate them from engineers ? Honestly, there aren't much difference from these two fields, as ultimately what they are trying to achieve are for the betterment of mankind. Designers visualize things, engineers make them. A designer cannot be both an engineer at the same time, however a good designer can.
Designing can mean ideas, big big ideas, ideas bigger than the earth the sun or the universe. Designing is about conceptualization, its about
how you present your creations. Designing is also about making the ordinary seem extraordinary, making it appeal to the crowd, selling it, and making sure its also feasible at the same time.
Most engineers do design, too. However this profession are bound by a set of rules that govern their design. Engineering design is mostly about efficiency, durability and many laws and logics in which science rules over them. In other words, functionality is the key factor to engineering.
Aesthetics is the next factor that decides the eventual fate of a design. At this point, one must understand that there are many forms and typology of design, from industrial design to fashion design, even from architecture to product design or even graphical design. As a designer, he or she must be able to sell their design through
rationalizing, what makes a particular design appealing, is it the form the shape or even the overall sensation that emits from it.
A good designer is able to convey a strong message through his or her design. Similarly, a good artist is able to paint emotions or even words into the minds of people viewing the painting. However a good engineer could only be recognized when he or she had pioneered something or created something that is a huge advantage to the humankind.
Being a designer is a tough and challenging job. Its about
process, its about conveying messages, its about presentation, its about knowing the rules and conventions and breaking it. Its about people, as people are most likely going to judge and use your design. Know people, how they think they act and the history of all things related to us. Ultimately, a huge chunk of designing is thinking and knowing what people want and presenting it.
Be a designer today !

This time round, for once, rong min is around... while mostly everyone is NOT around. Ben and i were thinking of starting an archi site for all SP archi students. Meaning yr 1 to yr 3 will join in. Its to set up an online community of students so that they can participate in the forum and help each other in their work. We won't really know what the implications and possible results are but i think its worth a try.
We want to make it big, a real site with real admins maintaining the site even after we graduate so that even freshies next yr and the next next year can also join in. The main purpose is to get as much members as possible, and right now we want to start out small.
I think ben's afraid of rejection if he voice this out so i will=)
Of course if we want to make it big, we got to invest in server with proper hosting and of course our personal own domain. etc. www.sparchiforums.com/net/org
There's currently 8 of us. And if we can get more people to join in the initial start up stage, the cost for setting up can be greatly offset. It does come down to only a few dollars a year. Just save up on ONE meal or something.

Due to some technicalities, the previous forum was closed and discontinued. Setting up this forum can keep everyone in touch and closer to the architecture scene even after we graduate from the school.
Hope i don't sound too harsh on this, cause its gonna be all up to your interest and commitment in the end to make this work. So think through it before you tell us you want in. I think its time for expansion liao. Do drop your point of views in the comment box and indicate whether you are AGAINST or FOR this idea. Try not to be influenced by other's opinion even though its really human nature.

ATTENTION ALL !DO NOT USE REAL COMPANY NAME AND COLLEAGUE NAME WHILE POSTING.
How's everyone's first day ? Me and chau had fun sia. Cad non-stop. Attire wise we can wear T-shirt and pants ! Coooool. Oh, and chau realised how much he sucked in autocad, actually me too.
By the way, we got ONE WHOLE WEEK OFF next week during CNY. We are not paid though.... Thus we are only effectively working 8 weeks, 5 days a week, meaning, 40 days in total. One day just passed that makes, 1/40, 2.5% completion of ITP !
Okay, time to play games liao.

the glitch ! look at the 2 aura towers, they are NOT attacking it.

once the queue gets too long, mobs become well, mobs, so they bashed one aura to go munch at the crystal, and took them quite a while too. 6 gigas were not able to take em out...

Click the pic to enlarge, i did the bottom part in microsoft paint during my sec 4 days. These people are my classmates who were late for school and were forced to do CWO (community work offence). I sniped the pic when they werent looking. Apparently they were slacking from their job. The centre image was done by my "good" friend weilong(cycling guy who likes rhoda).
I packed a lot of details in the pic. Take a look. Inside the picture oso got the name of the girl i used to like back then. Hunt it down !

oh man, me and jer played damn far for mountTD a few moments ago. too bad my com hang halfway or else complete le. i really wanna complete this map with u guys, so here's some addtional tips.
1. Start to build from the top not bottom. Build near the peak so incase leak got backup.
2. Your towers should be able to hit at least TWO LANES. What i mean is that each tower build on a row of "runway" should be able to target the mobs again after they go one round the mountain. The tower's range should be more than 700.
3. Poison towers and disease towers are VERY GOOD. best poison damage does abt 40damage per second over 2mins. build these at the BOTTOM around after wave 2.
4. Mazing is good. Use basic tower or rock tower to maze as it is the cheapest. Put some splash damage towers near your maze to maximise damage. HOWEVER, DO NOT MAZE IN CORNERS.
5. Rock towers are best built in a cluster. So when the rock tower hits a boss, more chance of it stunning it and make it stuck there for other towers to deal damage. Thus the term, choke.
6. Having heroes early is good as they can level up and tackle bosses later.
7. Guys, we should learn this thing called teamwork, share your wealth with others.
8. Build lightning towers to handle air right after wave 5. Build them at bottom left corner of map near the turn. That is a choke point for ALL mobs as they have to pass thru that point no matter where they spawn from.
9. Once get passed the 2nd boss, its better to stop mazing and concentrate on better upgrades of towers. Focus on slow towers too.
10. Frost towers are best used at the "super stage" which means you only upgrade ur default frost towers ONCE. The range and frost effect is acceptable for its cost to build. Any higher and its not so effective liao.
11. Most towers are most effective during MAX upgrades. its better to have 5 basic towers than have 2 super ones. Even if both cost the same. However it is better to have 1 ultimate tower than have many many default towers for the same amount of gold.
12. Each gold you earn counts. Once you reach 10 gold quickly build a new tower. Save gold only for hero or poison towers early game.
13. We should not build our towers from far from each other. Try to benefit from other's aura towers or maze. Beside heroes level up easier if we build close.
